Photo Journal: High Hope Ranch - Glen Rose, TX

High Hope Ranch in Glen Rose, Texas takes the cake as our favorite place to hike in DFW. We visited for the first time in September/October for a professional training held on site.

As we understand it, High Hope is a private 900 acres purchase by two couples in the 1970s who fell in love with the land and wanted to preserve it. It is now part of a land trust and open to the public. You must purchase a pass to hike or camp, and you can also rent a home on site or booking a special event such as a wedding. They have a biodynamic garden, farm animals (goats, chickens, a donkey, and kune kune pigs), and a store with products made from the garden.

For the training, we stayed at The Sanctuary, part of the M’walimu guest house and it was beyond beautiful and peaceful. We woke early each day to explore through hiking and visit the farm animals.

There are miles and miles of trails with decent elevation change and many points of interest and “sacred spaces” as they call it. So much to explore! We included some of our favorite photos below from the original visit and a follow up day hike we took in November.

For more information about High Hope or to book your visit, visit their website. You van also follow them on Instagram @buildinghighhope

Happy exploring!

Trail Map - trails are decently well marked with blazes or bandanas along the way. I believe there are paper maps available just outside the store when you arrive, too.
